Shopify web design Cambridge: store, research and Shopify SEO on one plan, no deposit to start

For a shop on Mill Road or a maker out in Histon: a Shopify store designed 27 miles east in Bury St Edmunds, nothing up front, from £495 a month, and the Shopify SEO handled every month with no second bill for it.

Inner tubes in 6 sizes and 2 valves, listed once

A cycle shop's stock looks modest until you count the variants. One inner tube comes in 700c and 26 inch, Presta and Schrader, 3 widths; one rear light in 2 brightnesses. Most shop websites give each of those its own product page, so the results fill with near duplicates and the customer in Trumpington opens 3 of them to find the one that fits. We set them up as options under one product, price and stock against each, specifications typed into the fields Google reads, alt text on every photo. Marine Spec went from 31 listings on Wix to 24 products on Shopify carrying 176 variants. Collections on a Cambridge store only make sense once the catalogue beneath them does.

Histon searches for rear bike light, not for a page called Shop

Picture the bike shop's website: a Shop page, a basket icon, the workshop hours. Nobody types Shop into Google. Rear bike light is. So are waterproof cycling jacket, pannier bag for commuting and bike lock Cambridge, and since nothing on the site answers them, the Histon commuter is handed a national retailer. The fix: a collection page for each of those searches, the matching products, a few lines of advice, and a page for each place you deliver to or let people collect from. The keyword research runs first and you see it: which products, which phrases, how many a month, who holds page 1. A phrase the numbers can't carry isn't built. 5 product types, 3 phrases apiece, is 15 searches, 15 pages.

Proof for a Cambridge shop: a reef aquarium store moved off Wix

What we can put in front of a Cambridge shop owner is Marine Spec. It sells reef aquarium accessories across the UK, Harry runs it from his Suffolk home, and his viewers know him as The Spiritual Reefer. The shop lived on Wix. We moved it to Shopify and rebuilt it round the hobby: 31 listings became 24 products carrying 176 variants, each photo gained alt text, 11 collections were planned off the research rather than the old menu, every Wix address was redirected, and 4 of 15 planned buying guides were written. The theme, the schema and the files AI search reads were made for that one shop. Sales and rankings we won't quote. Read the Marine Spec build and weigh it yourself.

Store, research, Shopify SEO and photos, one studio 27 miles from Cambridge

Everything on this page comes out of one studio in Bury St Edmunds, on King's Road: brand polish, theme, keyword research, the Shopify SEO each month, and product photography when the kitchen table shots have had their day. One number to ring when the Shopping feed throws an error, nobody passing blame along a chain. Cambridge is 27 miles west, 40 to 45 minutes of A14, near enough for a morning in the shop watching what Science Park commuters buy before a collection is planned. After that most of the work happens on screen. Sawston and St Ives have Shopify pages of their own, as does Newmarket on the way to us. Shoots run from £545 a month; the Cambridge digital marketing page covers them.

Collected on Mill Road, delivered to Cottenham, posted everywhere else

A shop with a counter has 3 customers at once: the one calling in on the way home, the one in Cottenham who'd rather it arrived, the one in Leeds who found you on Google. One Shopify checkout serves all 3. Click and collect puts a Tuesday night order on the counter by morning. A delivery zone drawn by postcode gives Histon, Waterbeach and Great Shelford a flat rate and a slot, with a courier price beyond them. The Google Business Profile lists stock and true hours, so bike shop near me typed outside Addenbrooke's shows the shelf. Where the research turns up a village beside a product, that village is given a page. The profile side is on our Cambridge SEO page.

A Cambridge store in about 2 weeks once the stock list lands

Hand over the products, photos and whatever copy exists, and the store needs about 2 weeks from that day. The first few of them aren't spent on design. They go on the keyword research, because the collections it produces are the store's skeleton, and a theme built before the research is a theme built round a Shop page. Then the theme is designed, products go in with their options, pictures and alt text, collections take shape, each old Wix or WooCommerce address gets a redirect, Merchant Center gets its feed, and the lot is tested on a phone, because a Cambridge commuter buying a light at a bus stop holds one. Faster isn't promised. The old shop keeps selling until the new one takes over.

Shopify stores for Cambridge independents selling to the city by bike and to the country by parcel

Cambridge has more people cycling to work than any other city in England, and a bike shop on Mill Road feels it every morning: punctures queued before 9, a run on lights the week the clocks go back, racks fitted while the customer waits. The website hasn't kept up. There's a Shop page with 30 products on it, 12 of them out of stock since spring, because the till is where the business happens. So when a commuter in Histon types rear bike light into Google at 10 at night, or a new starter at the Science Park wants a D lock that passes the bike shed rules, a national chain takes the order and the shop never knows. Our studio is in Bury St Edmunds, a 27 mile drive east along the A14. We build Cambridge shops a Shopify store the other way up: a collection page per thing people actually type, the Shopify SEO kept going month after month, nothing up front, plans from £495 a month.

How many products will a Cambridge shop list?

A cycle shop on Mill Road wants a collection for bike lights, one for commuter panniers, then inner tubes, bike locks and rain jackets, and a page for each village it delivers to. 5 product types, 3 phrases apiece, is 15 searches and 15 pages with a real chance at each.

  • 1Keyword research comes first, so we know which products and phrases people search for, how often, and who holds those results now.
  • 2We design and build the Shopify store, set the products up properly and build a collection page for every search worth going after.
  • 3Every month after that the Shopify SEO carries on: better collections, buying guides, Shopping feed care and a report on what moved. It is in the price.

Move the sliders to see which plan fits. Variants such as sizes and colours sit inside a product and do not count. The research decides which collection pages get built, so nothing gets made that cannot win.

Futureproofs web design is a pleasure to work with. Luke exceeded my expectations with the new Grooming Gorgeous website and really took the time to understand my business, our brand and what I wanted the website to achieve. He managed to capture everything I had envisioned and bring it all together even better than I had imagined.

Grooming Gorgeous

Could not recommend FutureProofs enough if you’re looking for a web design and SEO team who actually get how sites need to work now, including ranking in AI search, not just Google. We handed over some genuinely messy sites and they sorted them out properly, fast turnaround, no fuss.

Sam D'Arcy

FutureProofs built the new website for my construction business Fowler Construction and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm a builder, not a computer person, and he made the whole thing easy. He took the time to understand the work I actually want to win, wrote all the content for me, and the finished site looks proper high end.

Jake Fowler · Fowler Construction

We engaged Future Proofs to support the build of our new website, and the experience has been consistently positive from the outset. There was a clear effort to understand not just the visual aspect, but how the brand should be represented more broadly. Communication has been straightforward throughout, with updates and changes handled quickly.

Jonathan · Latent Intelligence

Luke was brilliant to work with — really easy to communicate with, took the time to understand our brand, and delivered exactly what we were hoping for. The website looks clean and modern, and the menu design has had loads of great feedback already.

Elliott Jackson · Suffolk Garden Maintenance

Our old site was a right bodge - slow, not great on mobiles, and no one could find the number to ring. Futureproofs gave it a proper overhaul in Webflow, sorted the content, and put clear buttons for services and quotes. We’re getting more of the right enquiries now they tidied up the Google SEO bits too. Straight talk, delivered when they said they would, and did a tidy job.
